Focus on the engine: checks and troubleshooting
The engine is the heart of your generator, you have to learn about it.
Here you find some information organized according to the logic Problem > Possible Cause > Resolution.
You do not have to do DIY operations on the engine if you do not have necessary skills, but having the knowledge to understand when to call a technician and give indications on the possible problem occurred, is always useful.
ENGINE DOES NOT START

Replace engine oil with right viscosity according to engine manufacturer recommendations.

Drain and clean fuel tank end pipes, replace fuel filter and fill tank with clean fuel.

Use fuel for low weather temperature.

Do a complete air bleeding of the fuel system and check the tightness of all connections. (*)

Clean clogged holes of the nozzle. Replace the nozzle if necessary. (*)

– Check timing of the fuel injection pump. (*)
– Leakage in gasket of cylinder head. Replace the Gasket. (*)

– Fuel tank is empty or fuel level is too low. Add fuel.
– Check fuel filter and replace if necessary.
– Do a complete air bleeding of the fuel system. (*)

– Bolts of cylinder head are loose. Tighten the bolts.
– Cylinder head gasket is leaking. Replace the gasket. (*)
– Piston rings are worn out. Replace piston rings. (*)
– Cylinder head valves are worn out or the tappet clearance is not correct. Head Overhault is required. (*)
